- Summary
- This journalism master's project includes a professional work component and a research component. For the professional work component the author wrote a six-story series for the Charleston Gazette in West Virginia, "entitled 'Cycle of influence' on the effect lobbyist spending, campaign contributions and personal financial interests combine to effect the legislative process." (p. 4) The rest of the time the author spent on general assignments and other projects for the paper. Includes field notes and examples of work. In the research component the author conducted "two focus groups--one of readers of ... [the Gazette's] on-line version, the other of reporters. ... In the end, the concerns of the focus group were more basic. After looking at all aspects of the on-line paper, they talked about changes they wanted in the on-line version itself, as well as its content. They were less concerned with on-line forums than with easier access to reporters and editors." (p. 5) Includes a literature review
