Summary
Novel based somewhat on Moore's own experience with working on Alfred Hitchcock's "Torn Curtain." The character Bernard Boweri is an unsympathetic portrait of Hitchcock. The story revolves around a successful Irish writer who is brought to California to produce a film script. The bulk of the book is made up of literal hauntings from ghosts of the lead character's past, which seem to be manifestations of the author's Catholic sense of guilt
