Summary
  • Professional skills component: "From January to June, I worked as a web exhibit and content producer for the Angus and Betty McDougall Center for Photojournalism Studies. The Centers original website was very basic and lacked a web presence for the McDougall Gallery. ... I redesigned the McDougall Gallery website and added a web exhibit space for the McDougall Gallery, creating online exhibits to be contained within this space. ... In addition to the website, I created print and digital installations for two exhibits in the physical gallery. This project incorporates photo editing, photojournalistic studies and design."--Final project, pages 5-6
  • Analysis component: "For my professional analysis, I conducted semi-structured interviews with the managing web content producers of museums that are viewed to have the best use of interactive multimedia. The three museums that I evaluated are the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Exploratorium, and the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts. ... In order to gain a comprehensive perspective, I also interviewed a web content producer from the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, a smaller museum that has produced several online media-rich micro-sites. ... Through my interviews, I determined the different museums processes of planning and production for these projects and ascertained the basis of decisions to interpret different kinds of information in different interactive formats. ... Using the data from these interviews as a guide, I have created a list of best practices for strategic implementation of exhibit content. An understanding of these museums processes can help to inform future producers of online interactive multimedia about decision-making in the field."--Final project, pages 57-58
