This journalism master's project includes a professional work component and an analysis component. The professional work component entitled, "Information graphics design, National Geographic Magazine," details the author's experiences working as an information graphics intern at National Geographic Magazine. "During the internship, [the author] worked closely with graphics editors while gaining insight into the development and production of graphics for National Geographic Magazine; designed and produced data-driven charts, illustrations and other graphics for use in print, e-readers, and researched science, energy, wildlife, space and technology news for ideas." (p. 4) Includes field notes and examples of work. In the analysis component entitled, "Interactivity: The Transition of Information Graphics from Print to Digital Platforms," the author examines the production and use of information graphics using "framing" as a theoretical model. The author also explains some of the best practices and tools useful in creating information graphics for digital and online publication. Includes a literature review
