- "Yet here is a man who defied jail as well as gun and physical violence in his crusade for the rights of American workers; and who joyously met and defeated an attempt to disbar him for his activities in their behalf. Ted Lamb was among the first to raise his voice against the menace of Hitler, volunteering to defend imprisoned German labor leader Ernst Thaelmann in the highest Nazi court. He was among the pioneers in the legal profession who laid aside their own interests to defend the rights of the laborer, and in so doing risked ostracism and economic retaliation. He fought and won the first portal-to-portal case, paying heavy costs in his finances and his friendships in order to assure the workingman his just due"--Foreword, page v
