Summary
This journalism master's project includes a professional skills component and an analysis component. The professional skills component details the author's experiences creating a multimedia website regarding Missouri's Civil War history (www.missouriscivilwar.com). The author "produced, and managed teams of students to produce, multimedia pieces for a web presentation" (p. 6) in order to gain experience teaching, creating and managing multimedia content production and dissemination. Includes field notes and examples of work on accompanying DVD-ROMs. "For the professional analysis component [the author] interviewed visual managers who led teams of photographers/producers to create multimedia. [The author] was not interested how [sic] every newspaper created multimedia. [He is] specifically interested in how newspapers that have a successful track record of producing multimedia were able to do it. [His] measure of 'success' was industry awards and recognition." (p. 6) Using Diffusions of Innovations as a theoretical framework, the primary research question was "How did visual managers at newspapers, with successful track records of multimedia storytelling, implement that innovation in their organization?" (p. 35) Includes a literature review and interview transcripts
