Summary
This journalism master's project includes a professional work component and a research component. The professional work component details the author's experiences covering the Missouri legislature in Jefferson City for the Kansas City Star. Field notes and samples of work are included. In the research component the author "examines the news frames and sources used in the Columbia Daily Tribune's stories about the Philips farm controversy in Columbia, Missouri to determine whether the newspaper's stories and headlines created a narrative of consensus over one of controversy. [The author] also seeks to decide whether the coverage was more favorable to the developer or to the protesting neighbors and environmentalists." (p. 101) This section includes a literature review
