- Summary
- "The artificial preparation of natural occuring [sic] minerals is a matter of great interest and importance in the study of the conditions and processes involved in the deposition of ores. In a large number of instances, no difficulty is experienced in the laboratory manufacture, e.g. of calcite, arragonite, dolomite, strontianite, gypsum and other similar minerals may be obtained by crystallization out of molten masses, e.g. graphite, diamond, corrundum [sic], etc.: still other cases in which special processes have been employed, have led to the production of compounds in the form in which they occur naturally. the facts so accumulated have not been classified: it is questionable whether there is sufficient material on hand to lead to general conclusions, or to the explanation of general principles. It is probable even that some fundamental factors have been overlooks, disregarded, or not sufficiently emphasized. In this paper the results of preliminary work regarding certain phases of ore deposition are presented"--p. 1
