"The field of nutrition sciences has made significant progress in mainstreaming nutrition as central to survival and critical to maintaining health. There are, however, still many questions left unanswered, from core biological concepts to those related to the evaluation of public health interventions. With limited resources and pressing needs, identifying the most critical knowledge gaps is essential to guide scientists toward much needed research and is a first step toward building the kind of consensus that will actually transform the way malnutrition is tackled. This Annals volume presents a global research agenda for nutrition science developed by the Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and scientists from several academic and nonprofit institutions across the world. Three papers are presented in this volume exploring (1) research and measurement gaps in the integrated approach to nutritional quality, environmental sustainability, and economic viability; (2) an evolving perspective about the origins of childhood undernutrition and nutritional interventions that includes the gut microbiome; and (3) the implementation and utilization of nutrition interventions through research."--Publisher's description
